The picture in the upper left was taken in the Persian Gulf (Dec. 30, 2005) - An F-14D Tomcat assigned to the "Tomcatters" of Fighter Squadron Three One (VF-31) performs a high-speed fly-by past USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). The nuclear powered aircraft carrier and embarked Carrier Air Wing Eight (CVW-8) are underway on a regularly scheduled deployment conducting maritime security operations (MSO) and close-air-support missions under Operation Iraqi Freedom.
